Yesterday was 14th May i.e., stray dog's day. I appealed to people to adopt a stray dog and do a favor to themselves. Yes you read it right. there are people who naively believe that adopting someone is like doing a favor on them, since they'll be providing them with more than bare essentials. true that is. but not as true as the fact that they receive a lot more than what they give away. I’d bet my life if anybody proves that wrong. I’m not sure if not for animals, the term unconditional love would have ever come into use.
To me, they mean a lot. I’ve had friends, different kinds of friends. All unique in their own way, but something was still the same- their attitude towards other fellow beings. They say, a child's mind is like wet mud, you can mould it the way you want. Adhering to this saying, I shouldn’t hold them solely responsible for this attitude. But yes, it hurts, to know that you care, to know that you are right, to know that you are weird in your own way and still you happen to like it!..but others don’t. and by the way, who are ‘others’? people I met, I know and I’m with. There are others whom I know and aren’t people. They are ‘the dogs!’
Haha, every day when I step out of my house, they are out there! Since I‘m so obsessed with dogs, I don’t mind going after an unknown dog, befriend him and add to my happiness. But there are instances when they are so engrossed in playing among themselves that they wouldn’t even look at you. They want to play! They want to bite and grrrrr at each other…lol..they can’t do it with you. But beware people, if that’s what they wish to play, plz do not stand next to them, coz if they don’t get a bite of their fellow play mates, they’ll compensate with yours!..hahahaha..scary huh? This is a child’s tendency. If he doesn’t get to hit his siblings or friends, he will hit anybody who’s next to him who he knows wouldn’t fight back for. eg. their parents. This is when I realized that dogs are not really that different from us. Oh yes they can be better and in their presence, our lives affable.
You don’t really need a reason to smile when they are around. They are the biggest stand up comedians I’ve known of and ironically they don’t know even know about this special weapon! Science has proved that pets have this mystical power of cutting down your tensions to zero. But I know nothing of science, all I know is from my wonderful experience every time I meet a stranger on the street. I know nothing of their various breeds, but that twinkle in their eyes makes me wonder how gods can be so generous in giving away such sugariness in all the dogs of the world! I may sound a little partial to this species. But it isn’t so. They are everywhere! And for good. Its unfortunate that people haven’t realized that as yet. Ones who have, are glad to be able to know these small wonders. Not very often i'm glad of things I do, they, have given me a strong reason to be. And that reason is here to stay.
